Culinary Global Challenge Malaysia Partners With Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL To Promote East Asian and Chinese Culinary Arts

The Culinary Global Challenge Malaysia Association (GCCM) announced the launching of the 3rd Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia, and held an  MOU signing ceremony with Comexposium Sdn Bhd, the organiser of Food & Drinks  Malaysia by SIAL. 

The 3rd edition of Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia will be the first time the event is  held outside its homegrounds in Negeri Sembilan, and will take place from 2 – 4 July  2024, at MITEC Kuala Lumpur. The competition will be co-located with the F&B trade  exhibition Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL during this period. 

In his opening speech, Dato’ Sri Dr. King Lim Chin Fui, the competition chairman of  GCCM, noted that due to the cultural diversity of the various ethnicities in Malaysia,  the culinary environment encourages local chefs to boldly experiment and create new  dishes that is not found anywhere else in the world. 

“This competition is a platform for chefs to showcase their creativity in blending their  ideas and cultural elements to create unique Malaysian flavours, and inspire new  creations and elevate Malaysian Chinese and East Asian cuisine to the next level” he  further adds. 

To further promote East Asian and Chinese culinary arts to a global audience, GCCM  and Comexposium Sdn Bhd signed an MOU on collaborating and co-organising the  3rd GCCM. The MOU was signed by Mr. Henri Tan, the Exhibition Director For  Southeast Asia And SIAL Network of Comexposium, and Mr. Yee Chee Loun, the  Competition General Secretary of GCCM.

“By co-organising the upcoming Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia, Food & Drinks  Malaysia shall be the platform to narrate the tradition of Chinese & East Asian culinary  heritage, and inspire the region’s food industry through cultural exchange.” said Mr.  Henri Tan, Exhibition Director for Southeast Asia and the SIAL Network. 

The competition will feature several categories, such as the team challenge, the  individual challenge, carving displays, artistic displays, M- flavourful Culinary  Individual Challenge. 

Co-located with the competition is Food & Drinks Malaysia trade exhibition, which will  be in its second edition this July. First launched in 2023, the up-and-coming food trade  exhibition is expected to host around 500 exhibitors and 15,000 importers, buyers, and  trade professionals across the 3-day event. 

The 3rd GCCM is also co-organised by the Negeri Sembilan Restaurants and Kitchens  Association and supported by the Tourism Board of Malaysia. The competition is also sponsored by F&B Facilities Sdn Bhd and Piau Kee Marine Sdn Bhd.
