The Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL 2024 (FDM2024) roadshows were launched to bring together local F&B industry traders and provide insights into establishing a significant presence in both local and international markets through this leading trade show platform.
The roadshows featured over 20 selected exhibitors from each state – Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak – all set to participate in the exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. These roadshows provided exhibitors with the opportunity to pre-meet and network with local F&B players, industry representatives, decision-makers, and trade buyers from these states.
The Penang roadshow, held on 27th February, was officiated by Mr. Gavin Way, the Special Officer at Penang State Exco of Agrotechnology, Food Security, and Cooperative Development. His impassioned plea for food security deeply resonated, encouraging collaboration between private and government sectors to set and achieve standards for food security.
Continuing southward, the roadshow was held on February 29th and officiated by En Hafiz Ramly, Deputy Director of the Johor State Department of Agriculture, the event encouraged local F&B entrepreneurs to seize opportunities provided by platforms like Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL Network to access global markets and expand their businesses.
“FDM2024 Roadshow is dedicated to bringing together local entrepreneurs and respected government agencies such as the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority of Johor (FAMA) and the Johor State Department of Agriculture. This event aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and networking opportunities. It’s encouraged for F&B industry proprietors to seize this chance to establish connections with their peers and industry experts,” explained En Hafiz.
Heading into Sabah on March 5th, the roadshow, led by YB Datuk Andi Suraidy, Assistant Minister from the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, brought together industry professionals from notable organizations such as the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI), SME Association of Sabah, Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA), and Sabah Tourism Board. Speaker Datuk Jade, Managing Director of Jetsin Sdn Bhd, shared valuable insights about the burgeoning opportunities in the halal sector.
Concluding its journey in Sarawak on March 7th, Ms. Amelia Roziman, CEO of BE Sarawak graced the event and highlighted the importance of leveraging local F&B businesses, while speaker Mr. Saiful emphasized the opportunities and challenges in the food sweetener industry.
“It is a beneficial platform for food, beverage, and packaging companies as well as startups to promote their businesses in the local market. The FDM2024 Roadshow successfully concluded, leaving an impact across Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.
