Following its first roadshow in Kuching, Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL (Salon International De l’Alimentation) hosted its subsequent roadshows in Penang and Johor from 11 – 13 April, at the Wembley Hotel and Capri by Fraser respectively.
The roadshows, which were launched to introduce the food exhibition network brand to the local F&B industry in Malaysia, featured over 20 selected exhibitors who will be participating in the inaugural exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. The roadshows also presented an opportunity for the exhibitors to pre-meet and network with local F&B players, industry representatives, decision makers, and trade buyers.
The Penang roadshow, which took place on 11th April, was officiated by YB. Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim Bin Haji Hussain, the Penang State Exco for Trade, Industry and Entrepreneurial Development.
“As we speak of addressing sustainability issues, I must also mention that it is not an issue that can be addressed by government policies alone. Only through close working relationships between the public and the private sector can policies be translated into clear and precise actions that produce results.” said Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim in his opening remarks.
“I am delighted to be able to see such an inspiring sight of how everyone is physically coming together to contribute to this momentous occasion of great significance, featuring networking at its best, Business-to-Business opportunities while promoting Penang’s culinary culture through business events.” Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim adds.
Following the Penang roadshow, the Johor Roadshow took place on 13th April, and was officiated by Puan Zalilah Nasir, Deputy Director Of Health Food Safety And Quality Division of the Johor State Health Department.
“As the guardian of food safety in Malaysia, the Ministry of Health will continue to enhance the food safety control system throughout the supply chain. This can be achieved by adopting measures aimed at ensuring that unsafe food is not allowed to be placed in the market and that systems exist to identify, predict and respond to food safety problems.” Said Puan Zalilah in her opening remarks.
“The food industry is of course a key partner in strengthening food safety and must also play its role in maintaining high food safety standards such as ensuring safe practices through the adoption of good agricultural practices as well as food safety assurance programmes, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). I am delighted to be able to see such an inspiring sight of how everyone is physically coming together to contribute to this momentous occasion of great significance, featuring networking at its best, Business-to-Business opportunities while ensuring food safety through business events.” Puan Zalilah adds.
Also present at both roadshows was Mr. Henri Tan, Event Director for Southeast Asia region of Comexposium. “Food security is a critical issue that impacts the availability, accessibility, and affordability of food for our communities. Recently, we have witnessed the impact of food shortages, and this serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of our food supply chains and the need to address food security challenges collectively.” Said Mr. Henri Tan.
“As the organizer of Food & Drinks Malaysia, we strive to promote and support the local food industry in Malaysia through trade and business networking, which plays a crucial role in ensuring food security not only for Malaysia but also for our neighbouring countries.” He added further.
